Sami Khatib, PhD, will conclude in a third and final session of the reading seminars focusing on two main streams in Benjamin’s writings: “History, Messianic Time, and Revolution,” and “Language, Translatability, and Art.” Participants will be encouraged to closely engage with the texts through group discussions.
“History, Messianic Time, and Revolution” is a series of intensive collective readings seminars discussing Walter Benjamin’s “Theses on the Concept of History” from 1940, the concept of a non-linear, non-progressivist historical time, and notions of tradition, collective memory, and historical consciousness.
