May Hamdan is a self-taught painter who has been developing her art over the past several years. She held her first exhibition in 2007, and participated in collective shows since then. Her latest exhibition in December 2011, showcased in her studio / home, was a mix of artworks and handmade crafts.
Her work includes paintings with mixed media, mostly acrylics and pastels. She also enjoys making playful and whimsical fabric patchwork pieces for bags, cushions, wall hangings, quilts, and curtains.
May currently lives in Beirut. She holds a PhD in Mathematics and has been a professor of Mathematics at the Lebanese American University since 1997. She has published scholarly works in Pure Mathematics as well as in Mathematics Education.
