Demonstration to Re-Open Horsh Beirut

Saturday, May 16, 2015
2:00pm -> 4:00pm
Horsh Beirut

Demonstrate with Nahnoo to demand the full and public opening of the only park we have in Beirut: Horsh Beirut (aka: the Pine Forest).

Here’s why you should join:
-Because most of the Lebanese public is deprived of the opportunity to enjoy Horsh Beirut.
-Because closing it to one part of the population and allowing access to another is discriminatory and illegal behavior.
-Because those in power do not respect the citizens they work for and look down on them.
-Because there are no justifications for the continuous closure of Horsh Beirut to the general public.
-Because the Municipality of Beirut has repeatedly promised to reopen Horsh Beirut to no avail.
-Because even non-citizens of the country have a right to green space.

All demonstrators are invited to gather at Horsh Beirut, on the Al Baba Sweets side (Tayyouneh) on Saturday, May 16 at 2PM.

The event is family friendly. There will be a small play and distribution of free wigs and a photobooth. The point of the wigs is to make a statement about the unfair practice of regularly allowing foreigners to access the park as opposed to Lebanese people.
