FADE IN: Fundamentals of Acting

Wednesdays [From Jun 3, 2015 until Aug 26, 2015]
6:30pm -> 9:00pm
Artscape

Be it on stage or on film, the goal of this workshop is to teach you the technique of acting and focuses on the more practical side of preparing for a role. Anyone can be an actor, it just takes the right tools. While training the students, teachers will cover breathing, movement, memorization, performance and presentation – all in an effective and fun way.

The skills you learn in this class will enhance your confidence for better public speaking, conversation and presentation. The more acting tools you have, the better you can communicate and present yourself.

Led by professional actors Rami Saidi and Nadia Hassan, this class is taught in English.

This class runs every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Artscape on Makhoul street (parallel to Bliss street)
Starting June 3 and running for three months (12 sessions total)

Do I have to have any acting experience?
Acting experience is not required, but we are looking for dedicated, passionate and active participants who are eager to learn and are willing to step outside their comfort zones.

Do I have to do three months total?
Yes. The way the class is designed, students are required to commit to all three months.

What do we do in class?
This workshop will comprise of two main parts. The first part and the bulk of the sessions will be spent training and working with the participants to build their skills using theatrical games and exercises from a variety of sources. The last 3 sessions will be used as a platform for the participants to present a final project.

What are the benefits of this class?
While there are many benefits to immersing yourself in the craft of acting – for instance, effective public speaking or enhanced confidence – this class in particular is extra special:
– This class doesn’t focus on one school of acting but instead encompasses a wide range of techniques and tools from all over.
– Experiencing something is different than being told about it, this workshop allows its participants to immerse themselves in life-like scenarios.
– Being taught by fellow actors provides unique insight and a fresh perspective on the art of performing.
