Palestinian Embroidery with Baraa Abdallah

The class will focus on teaching students various techniques of Palestinian embroidery. Participants will complete the workshop by creating their own small item of embroidery such as a pouch, iPhone cover, etc.

About the instructor
Baraa joined the Creative Space Beirut during the pilot project in June 2011. She entered the program with an impressive technical skill set. Over three years, her creativity blossomed, and she sold over 20 dresses during exhibitions and carried out the fitting procedures for each piece. Baraa graduated from CSB in 2013 with impressive experience and a comprehensive portfolio and is currently employed on an up and coming project which combines Palestinian embroidery with modern designs. She currently works with Mercy Corps, holding sewing workshop in Sur.

All supplies will be purchased on the first day of class with the presence of the instructor for advice at a local store.

– Three colors of DMC thread
– One meter of etamine
– One meter of canvas
– Two meters of cotton, jersey, OR satin
– Embroidery needle
