Ceci n’est pas un tapis is an installation that vividly demonstrates the unfolding levels of an Oriental carpet. Designed jointly by Dr. Hadi Maktabi & internationally acclaimed artist Niloufar Afnan, the artwork is installed in weekly sequential layers to bring out the complexity of the design process. The completed composition will be inaugurated during Beirut Design Week. Mixing Magritte with modernity, Ceci n’est pas un tapis invites viewers to decompose and recompose the Oriental carpet in their own mental space.
