‘Retrospective’ Exhibition at BAC

“Retrospective” by Xavier Le Roy is an exhibition conceived as a choreography of actions that will be carried out by performers for the duration of the exhibition. These actions will compose situations that inquire into various experiences about how we use, consume or produce time.

Based on solo works by Xavier Le Roy created between 1994 and 2010, the work unfolds in three time axes: the duration of the visit composed by each visitor, the daily basis of labor time of 9 performers and the time of the growth of a new composition during the length of the exhibition.

This work was conceived in 2012 following the invitation from Laurence Rassel (Artistic Director of the Antoni Tapiès Foundation in Barcelona). Beirut Art Center is ninth venue to host this project. This exhibition is supported by TransARTE. Initiated by the Institut francais, TransARTE is a program that aims to encourage and promote artistic forms emerging from the hybridization of practices and artistic disciplines, thus widening the scope and frontiers of the notion of the contemporary.
Conceived as a brand, this innovative program was launched in Europe and South America in 2012, and has since developed several partnerships worldwide.
