What is Being Said at the National Dialogue?

If you’re reading this article for an answer to that question, click off. I don’t have one. I am genuinely asking, WHAT is being discussed? What are these politicians saying to each other that hasn’t already been said hundreds, or thousands, or millions of times over the past fifty years?

Why are they hoodwinking us into believing that they’re working on sorting out their differences? If there is a possibility that dialogue could have solved Lebanon’s many crises, aren’t these people to blame for not doing it earlier? Is a small discussion all it takes in order to get our country back on track?

I guess my main question is, do ministers and government officials not have WhatsApp? iMessage? Have they not been able to talk to each other lately? Is that a magical table? If they just needed to “talk things out,” why didn’t they do it ten years ago?

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT IN THERE?

Party A: I want to be president.
Party B: No, me.
*meeting adjourned*

And what kind of sick joke is this?
