Join Issam Fares Institute for a discussion and screenings on the role of photography in oral history. Case studies will include AUB’s Neighborhood Initiative’s Ras Beirut Project by Maria Abunnasr, and the Palestinian Oral History Archive by the AUB Libraries and the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, presented by Hana Sleiman.. The event will include a screening of “Jours Tranquilles en Palestine” (1998), directed by AIF co-founder Fouad Elkoury and Sylvain Roumette.

This talk is held as part of the Middle East Photograph Preservation Initiative (MEPPI) Environment and Exhibition of Photographs workshop, taking place 9-20 Nov at AUB with 16 representatives from significant regional photograph collections and archives. MEPPI is led by the Arab Image Foundation jointly with the University of Delaware, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Getty Conservation Institute.
