8 Ways To Beat The Winter Blues

Winter is beautiful for a while, but soon enough you’ll get sick of all your sweaters, get scared of taking showers in the cold, run out of hot cocoa, and realize the days are extremely short and that you actually need sunlight to function. After you’ve finished skiing and gone through 47 bad hair days because of the rain, here are some things you can do to beat the winter blues.

1. Tackle one of those projects you’ve been putting off.

This could be anything from knitting (boring) to organizing your makeup drawer (slightly less boring), but wouldn’t it be nice to check something off your personal to-do list this winter instead of watching reruns all season?

2. Color.

Since you’re indoors, consider jumping on the bandwagon of that odd but intriguing adult coloring trend. It helps relieve stress, and is really therapeutic. Books can be found at Librairie Antoine and are actually really fun to complete, believe it or not. Joon On The Moon hosts weekly coloring nights for people to relieve stress and mingle.

3. Bake and/or cook.

You can never go wrong with food. Be it a cake or chicken soup, cooking will make you feel like you’ve accomplished something great. And since we’re all prone to ordering food on the go and killing our fit physiques with toxins, preparing home-cooked meals this winter will do wonders for both your body and your winter blues.

4. Learn something new.

There is an abundance of YouTube tutorials out there with everything from contouring to coding. Collect a few that intrigue you and set aside a rainy Sunday to learn something new. Who knows? You might even start your own vlog or roll out with the latest new app. Alright…well; winters aren’t that long in Lebanon!

5. Exercise!

The weather might keep you bundled up inside most of the days but it’s essential you exercise. Whether you’re doing yoga at home or opt for taking the stairs, make sure you shake things up. You’d be surprised how much weight you could gain eating chips in front of the TV all winter.

6. Read, read, read.

Most of you are probably booing this list by now, but winter is the perfect time to curl up with a hot cup of tea and a great read. No effort needed. Scout’s honor!

7. Throw game nights.

Weather too stormy to explore the outdoors? Invite a few close friends over and watch how relationships can quickly get ruined over a round of Monopoly.

8. Pamper yourself.

The best part about winter is finding the time to cozy up at home and do the pampering you didn’t have time to do before. While some opt for spa trips and weekend getaways, you can manage to relax in your own home. From face masks to reading in a bubble bath, there’s nothing that a glass of champagne doesn’t sit well with.

Spring, take your time.
