Funky Fridays, First 2016 Edition: Jim Sharp UK

Funky Fridays are back ! Get ready to groove again with three sessions a month, each one of them hosting an renowed international old school and groove artist.
For their first 2016 edition, they are honord to host UK’s Hip Hop, Funk and Soul Dj, Jim Sharp.

Growing up on a steady diet of East Coast Hip Hop in the early 90’s in the Toronto area, Jim Sharp started playing records under the tutelage of local kings of the turntables. Years of practicing took him into bars, clubs and raves with his stickered up record box. In 2003 Jim moved to London, UK and began the process again from scratch.

Putting in more work on the decks than ever and teaching himself how to produce music, everyday was hustlin’. After gaining residencies throughout London and a radio show on Itch FM, he started releasing records under the moniker J.Bold. With evolving and maturing musical tastes, Jim returned to the essence of Hip Hop – Funk and Soul.
Releasing seminal mixtapes Straighten It Out Vol 1 & 2 and dozens of edits and remixes, Jim took his music back to vinyl with humble expectations but grand results.

Joining forces with Marc Hype and the Dusty Donuts crew from Germany, Jim has released over a half dozen 45’s over the past two years, reigniting his passion for deejaying and
rocking crowds with sets full of scratching and smile on his face.

Fim Sharp has been djying with Skratch Bastid, Mr Thing, Jazzie B, Kon, Rich Medina, and supported acts like George Clinton, Pharoah Monche, Black Sheep, Jeru the Damaja, Mobb Deep, Marley Marl etc..
