Lebanese Student Faces Off With Minister Of Interior Nouhad Al-Machnouk

Earlier this afternoon, during a speech about gender equality and women’s rights given by Minister Nouhad Al-Machnouk, the official faced harsh criticism from one of the students in the crowd.

The young woman, Tima Al-Ahmad, belongs to The Intersectional Feminist Club of LAU that tackles issues of gender inequality through student activism and awareness.

In the clip below, Al-Ahmad can be seen “thanking” the Minister for the equally brutal treatment both men and women received at the hands of security forces during previous demonstrations.

Al-Ahmad also continues to express her frustration at security officials, and claimed that she had experienced sexual harassment at Hobeich Police Station. Minster Machnouk responds by saying that she is a Lebanese citizen who is free to file her complaints with the appropriate outlets.
