Thursday, Mar 31, 2016
12:00pm -> 2:00pm

Across the Middle East and North Africa civil society actors continue to struggle to make their voice heard and to assert their influence over political processes. In this talk, Carmen presents her recent book comparing the struggles of activists in Lebanon and Libya. She presents extensive empirical evidence that points to how path dependence in the form of power-sharing and weak state institutions negatively affects the ability of civil society to play a role in political reform.

Location: Issam Fares Institute – Auditorium

The lecture will be moderated by Dr. Tarek Mitri, Director of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs
