Eat, Drink And Be Merry For Under $10: 5 Cheap Eats In Beirut

With our spending habits, it’s no wonder we go broke before the end of the month. Don’t worry though, none of us are going to starve (or have to live on zaatar w khebiz), because with this list, you can get a decent meals all for less than $10.

1. Abou Afif, Hamra

An icon in his own right, Abou Afif runs one of the best fast food sandwich joints in town. With sandwiches costing less than $3 on average (we recommend the notorious Francisco) and their quick service, Abou Afif is the perfect place to grab a quick, tasty and cheap bite.

2. Falafel M. Sahyoun, Downtown

Beirut may be peppered with falafel shops, but few compare to the legend that is Falafel Sahyoun. Probably the oldest falafel restaurant in town, Sahyoun has not only maintained its high standards over the years, but the falafel sandwich is still super affordable too (3,500 LL for one super delicious sandwich generously packed with veggies).

3. Umai Wok, Mar Mikhael

Asian food isn’t usually associated with the description ‘cheap’ here in Lebanon, but Umai Wok isn’t your typical Asian restaurant. A relatively new kid on the block in Mar Mikhael, Umai Wok serves up endless, mouthwatering combinations of stir-fried woks in a box. If you don’t go too fancy, you can pick a base and toppings all for under $10.

4.

If you’re looking for a quick bite that’s also delicious and pocket friendly, you don’t have to look further than Farrouj Al Abdallah. For $10 or less, you can enjoy their infamous roasted chicken sandwich, or even dig into half of a charcoal roasted farrouj, yum! (Don’t miss out on their special garlic sauce.) To top things off, their delivery service is probably one of the fastest in Beirut.

5. Le Professeur, Mar Elias

Ran out of locations (and cash) for your weekly Sunday brunch? Head over to Le Professeur and dig in to their hearty Lebanese breakfast complete with fatteh, hummos, msabha, awarma, and foul. Worried about getting full half way through breakfast? Le Professeur offers half portions of everything, and if you’re taking food away, you can even bring your own container (which usually results in an even bigger serving).
