World Humanitarian Day, celebrated every year on 19 August, recognizes humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. The yearly event marks the day on which the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Iraq, Sérgio Vieira de Mello, and 21 of his colleagues were killed in the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad in 2003.

To commemorate our work in Lebanon, we look to those we serve. You are invited to “When I Grow Up”, a photo exhibition featuring children from all over the world sharing their dreams. You are then invited to one of our ten viewing stations for an interactive multimedia experience, putting you in the shoes of refugees, host communities, and aid workers. Join us in the global videos corner, where you can trace the path of a Syrian family sharing their story of making impossible choices.
