A talk with Fadi El Abdallah, Nida Ghouse and Marie Muracciole

Beirut Art Center invites Fadi El Abdallah, Nida Ghouse and Marie Muracciole to a conversation about sound art. This conversation follows a day-long workshop on critical writing and addresses questions that were raised by Fadi El Abdallah in a recent review on the previous exhibition, Esma’/Listen. The participants reflect on sound in contemporary art practices and how it occupies the art space.

About Fadi El Abdallah
Fadi El Abdallah is honorary editor in Ma3azef.com, an online publication specializing in Arabic and international music. He is a published poet and writer with a PhD in law studies. Fadi El Abdallah is the He is also an art critic and a commentator on law. As a member of the collective Group Tuesday, he has collaborated with Bilal Khbeiz and Walid Sadek on File: Public Time (2005) and Tragedy in a Moment of Vision (2007). He presented ‘signatures’ in Home Works 5, Beirut (2010).

About Nida Ghouse
Nida Ghouse is a writer and a curator, and presently the director of Mumbai Art Room. Her research and writing project, “Lotus Notes”, traces a partial history of a multi-lingual Soviet-funded journal of Afro-Asian writings, and has appeared variously in Mada Masr (Cairo, 2014), and After Year Zero (The University of Chicago Press, 2015), forthcoming in ARTMargins (The MIT Press 2016), and Critical Writing Ensembles: Dhaka Art Summit 2016 (Mousse Publishing 2016).
