‘To Keep The Memories Alive’ Art Exhibition

Dar Al Mussawir cordially invites you to the opening of “To Keep the Memories Alive”, by Saudi-Lebanese artist and writer Reem Rashash-Shaaban.

This mixed media art exhibition is a celebration of life’s precious moments; ones that will soon disappear, for the people of the city of Beirut have neglected its beauty, both natural and manmade. They have forgotten their roots and chosen to do away with their heritage and nature’s bounty. Flowers that once adorned the balconies of these beautiful ancestral homes have virtually no place to shine.

Using pastel, paint, collage, ink, and her original photography, Reem recreates Beirut’s charming landmarks in her new collection.

Reem Rashash-Shaaban has an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the American University of Beirut where she taught for 32 years and served as Director of two programs: The University Orientation Program and the University Preparatory Program. She is currently working as a freelance educational consultant. In her spare time, she is a photographer, artist and writer.

Her photographs and artwork have been exhibited at AUB/ Dar Al Mussawir Exhibition in 2012, The Artwork Shop, UNESCO, and Galerie Zamaan. Artwork from her last solo exhibition “Going, Going, Gone” was published in the latest issue of the literary magazine Sukoon.
