Lebanese Inventor Is Wowing Judges In Arab Science Competition

Sevag Babikian, a hands-on mechatronics engineer, is the only Lebanese contestant left in Stars of Science – the first Pan-Arab reality TV show dedicated to innovation that shines a spotlight on the next generation of young Arab innovators. Babikian has qualified as one of the top nine projects advancing to the prototyping stage.

The 27-year old holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Engineering degree from the American University of Beirut, where he has also worked as a lab instructor. His contribution to the show is an improved 3D printer called the Efficient Desktop 3D printer. Babikian’s improved model is designed to save time and material waste commonly found in commercial desktop 3D printers, while simultaneously providing a higher surface quality.

The winner of the competition, determined by a combination of a jury deliberation and voting from the public during the final stage, will receive a $300,000 prize. If Sevag makes it through the next two rounds and joins the top 4, we can start voting for him! Voting will take place between the 12th and 19th of November.

Tune in this Saturday to see how Sevag fares with the judges, the show airs on MBC4 at 10:30PM KSA/7:30 PM GMT.
