Al Beyt Play at Monnot Theatre

From Nov 21 to Feb 24, 2018
8:30pm -> 10:00pm

Al Beyt (The House), written in Lebanese Arabic by Lebanese author ARZE KHODR within the Royal Court Theatre writing residency, was translated and published in Arabic, English and French.

Al Beyt was presented in staged reading events in London (2008), Marseille, Tunis and New York. It was also translated into German and performed in the Tubingen Theatre in GERMANY over two seasons in 2014 and 2015.
Al Bayt will be presented in Lebanon for the first time, in Lebanese dialect.

Al Beyt is a realistic play about a brother and his two sisters in their thirties who have just lost their mother and who deal differently with the issue of maintaining ties with the past, the family’s charged history of memory and loss, and the eternal feeling of guilt that some feel in regard to their desire of freedom and individuality.
