German-born Umay flees her oppressive marriage in Istanbul, taking her young son Cem with her. She is hoping to find a better life with her family in Berlin, but her unexpected arrival creates intense conflict.
The film premiered at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival and has participated to more than 35 international festivals including the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival where it won the best narrative feature and best actress awards.
This film is presented within a special program of German films put together by the Goethe Institute – Beirut in partnership with the Metropolis Association
