Paintings and Sculptures – Sabhan Adam

From Jan 27 to Feb 20, 2011
6:00pm -> 11:00pm
Mark Hachem Gallery

Sabhan Adam was born in the small rural village of Hassakeh, Syria, as the penultimate child of a family of eleven. He has lived and worked in Hassakeh until the present day and is duly influenced by the particular culture of the area which lies between the Turkish and Iraqi borders.

Adam’s work is extremely provocative, frequently producing love or hate responses from viewers, and inciting comparisons with the work of Francis Bacon, Egon Schiele or Goya. By comparison to the contemporary art of Syria his work is truly unique and groundbreaking.
