CASAR, the Creative Writing Program, the English Department and FAAH cordially invite you to a lecture entitled The Life of a Stand Up Poet, by Edward Field.

For half a century, since the publication by Grove Press of his first book, Stand up, Friend, With Me, in 1963, Edward Field has been a leading figure in American poetry. In recent years, he has also published fiction, Villagers, written with his partner Neil Derrick, a literary memoir, The Man Who Would Marry Susan Sontag, and a travel book on Afghanistan, which reflects his understanding of the Muslim world based on years of visits to countries in North Africa and the Middle East.
