Kotobus Mobile Library

Assabil launched its first mobile library in 2008. It circulated primarily to public schools in Beirut and its southern suburbs. It offers a collection of around 2,000 books and documents for students of all ages. The bus visited 350 classes in 2010 and benefitted 9500 students. There were 2300 book rentals.

Assabil launched its second mobile library in 2010. It circulated primarily to public schools in Beirut and its northern suburbs. It offers a collection of around 2,000 books and documents for students of all ages. The bus visited 300 classes in 2010 and benefitted 5000 students. There were 700 book rentals.

Moreover, the mobile libraries have a collection of 7,000 books in a warehouse in the Unesco Regional Office. The books rotate on the buses to give the students a wider selection choice.

The mobile libraries work with primary schools to encourage the love of reading and implement activities around the book, such as story telling.

The mobile libraries work with secondary schools on a citizenship project to promote democracy through the art of debate.
