Arab Open University (AOU)

The Arab Open University (AOU) is a leading educational institutions in Lebanon and the only university operating under the Open Learning System adopted in the UK.

The AOU relies on an open system framework characterized by flexibility to accommodate a wide base of learners in higher education thereby offering educational opportunities to qualified applicants in accordance to their needs and abilities. AOU offers flexibility in tuition and tutorial hours. Unlike distance education, which does not involve face to face interaction, the AOU Open Learning platform involves tutoring sessions between students and instructors and requires attendance. In addition to face-to-face tutorials that are based on Open University- UK curriculum and material, there are also other forms of learning support such as audio and video cassettes, CD-ROMs and other multimodal methods. In addition, a Library, a learning center and computer-based resources are also deployed throughout AOU’s operations.
