Gregory’s Girl is a Scottish Classic. Ask almost any Scottish person what their favorite film is and this will be it. Focused on the sixteen year old Gregory, an awkward, lanky Scottish lad who is in the midst of the throngs of puberty and his attempts to reach the object of his affection: Dorothy.

Gregory tries to insinuate himself as much as possible in her life through her interests, such as learning the Italian language, without ever directly coming out and telling her that he likes her. Gregory’s Girl was nominated in the British Film Institute’s list of best high school movies and is a heartwarming coming of age film with some classic dialogue and insight into the lives of Scottish teenagers.
