Combining spectacular footage with interviews and animation, The Edge of Dreaming follows a Scottish woman through a life-affirming struggle for survival, from science to the daily strains and pleasures of ordinary family life.

Scottish filmmaker and mother of three Amy Hardie, makes science films for a living. With this new film, she explores neuroscience, family life, dreams and death in an engrossing investigation into the human subconscious. It is the story of a rational, skeptical woman, a mother and wife, who does not remember her dreams, except when she dreams that her horse died. She woke frightened and went outside in the night. She found the horse dead. On her 48th birthday Amy dreams she will die before she turns 49. This of course turns her world upside down and forces her to re-assess everything about her life.
