“Ya Zahret el Jnoub”… These Are The Things We Miss About South Lebanon

Due to the ongoing aggressions on southern Lebanese villages and towns, an estimated 80,000 people have been displaced from their homes. Many others have been unable to visit the south for months now, which is why we have decided to share a list of the many things we miss about Jnoub, in the hopes that the calm returns.

1. Visiting the fish market in Saida and enjoying Arabic sweets in the old souk

2. Tyre’s sandy shore, breathtaking scenes of Naqoura, the Roman ruins, and a fatayel sandwich from Mahfouz

3. Shaqif Castle in Nabatieh, the smell of freshly “mad2oo2” kebbe, the knefeh from Al Dimasi, the falafel sandwich from Arnoaut, and of course lounging around by Wadi Hjeir riverbed  

4. The Jezzine waterfalls, local wine, and Bkassine’s pine forest

5. Outdoor barbecues, outings to Aishiyeh with the family, and sitting among the clouds in Jabal el Safi
