Visualizing the Highway Reconstruction Plan in Achrafieh

Remember way back in March when we found out that a new highway construction project in Achrafieh would call for the destruction of residential homes?

Well, according to Save Beirut Heritage, that much hated “Fouad Boutros Project” is still on—and now has the visuals to prove it.

Cutting directly across a throng of homes, the new highway is supposedly meant to reduce traffic, though it will undoubtedly cause migraines to everyone who lives on its borders. But hey, since when did the average citizen ever get a say on the matter?

Costing roughly $60 million of government money, the Fouad Boutras Project is estimated to be completed in 2016. Hurray.
