Skoun Holds Annual Gala to Celebrate Continued Growth

Skoun, the Lebanese Addictions Center, Lebanon’s largest outpatient treatment center, held its annual gala dinner on December 4 at the 01NE venue in BIEL to celebrate the achievements of this truly ground-breaking organization.

In the presence of Mrs. Lama Tammam Salam, Minister of Interior Nohad Machnouk, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farid Makari, Former Minister Nayla Moawad, Former Minister Tarek Mitri and VIP guests, the annual gala was organized by Caractère showcasing magic images and visual effects exclusively created by Plan A.

“Skoun’s success lies in its holistic approach that provides comprehensive care for people suffering from addiction as well as their families but also legal aid support when necessary,” Joe Saddi, Vice-President of Skoun’s executive board, pointed out.

“Our annual gala celebrates our continuous growth and institutional sustainability so that we can continue to help the hundreds of Lebanese who come to us every year seeking treatment for their addictions.”

Skoun has been able to not only provide treatment, including psychiatric and psychosocial support but has made a name for itself – nationally, regionally and internationally – and by doing so it offers alternatives: life can be reclaimed, health should be promoted and hope is possible.

Nadya Mikadashi, Executive Director and Co-founder and Sarah Trad, Board President and Co-founder declared looking back “We’ve made inroads in all the areas we set out to: outpatient treatment, prevention work, lobbyism, legal aid services, and outreach.”

Overall Skoun provided treatment for 407 individuals in 2013. The number of free counseling sessions that year totaled 2000, 900 psychiatric consultations were given and 200 general health checkups. Furthermore 50 families sought out support sessions.

Skoun’s Drug Prevention programs reached 3589 young people in schools and universities across Lebanon. Supporters renewed their pledge to the good cause Skoun embraces, and enjoyed the evening. An auction was held which included a limited edition Chateau
