How to Have The Perfect Picnic in Horsh Beirut

Picture this:

It’s feeling warm on a Sunday afternoon, sitting on a red and white plaid blanket, you take out the turkey and cheese sandwich you have made along with some fresh orange juice and just enjoy the company of your friends on the mint green grass of Horsh Beirut.

Sounds just about perfect! The opening of Horsh Beirut to the public starting early September has finally made it possible for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors within Beirut. Previously known as Horsh El Snoubar, this Urban Park covers about 40,000 square meters of green space and is now home to a variety of medicinal weeds, trees, and flowers.

After almost 20 years of being closed down, Horsh Beirut offers the perfect setting for an Autumn Picnic, mid-day yoga session, or maybe your next photoshoot – the possibilities are endless.

But for now, here are a few tips on planning for your perfect autumn picnic.

1- French Brie is definitely the way to go when choosing cheese; it delights the senses and doesn’t go oily in the sun. Pack a baguette and a simple green salad and you’ve got yourself the perfect lunch.

2- Use an umbrella as an alternative form for shade.

3- Wet wipes! You can never have too many wet wipes.

4- Avoid ice cream or any kind of food that may melt or become sticky. Hello, bugs!

5- Speaking of bugs – bug spray is a must, you don’t want to be itching all night long.

6- Bring your bicycle, guitar, or Frisbee for some guaranteed laughs.

So get your potato salad and watermelon because the Horsh is here to stay. And most of all – remember guys, let’s keep it clean.
