Lebanese born jazz musician Ibrahim Maalouf is being investigated by French police for allegedly kissing a 14-year-old girl while she was his intern.
Nephew of famous writer Amin Maalouf, Ibrahim is a French-Lebanese trumpet player and teacher, and composer. Maalouf’s soundtrack for the film In the Forests of Siberia won the equivalent of a “French Oscar”, a Cesar, just last week.
Maalouf was 33 at the time of the incident, and the charge is sexual interference not assault because the girl had consented at the time. The incident only came to light when the girls parents went to the police.
If found guilty, Maalouf would be facing up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $79,000.
