Eat Your Way Around Lebanon: Famous Dishes From Every Area In Lebanon

Lebanon is well known for a number of things, from our hospitality to our amazing party scene and our beautiful landscapes. But one of the things we’re best known for is our amazing food, and despite what you may think, each area has a unique and delicious dish that you must try. So, let’s go on a trip through Lebanon’s best dishes.

Beirut: Samkeh 7arra

This is how fish was meant to be eaten. Head to the closest little fish shop you can find in Ain El Mrayseh, and try this now!

North Lebanon:

1. Bsharre: Koussa Be Laban

Your family’s recipe may be good, but the koussa be laban straight from Bsharre is so so worth the trip.

2. Douma: Laban Emmo

Youghurt? Wonderful. Lamb and rice? Lovely. The combo? Pure excellence.

3. Ehden: Kebbeh Zgherteweeye

There are endless variations of Kebbeh, but this one might just take the cake.

4. Tripoli: Mjadara

This may come as a surprise, knowing that Tripoli is the number one spot for Arabic desert in Lebanon, and people make long trips to target its shops. But, the fact that the dish of the city is mjadara can only prove how good of a mjadara it is, if it went head to head with all that knefeh.

South Lebanon:

1. Marjayoun: Wara2 3enab Ma3 Kara3 W Djeij

Wara2 3enab is probably the hardest dish to make, at least in my opinion, but Marjeyoun makes it even harder with all the flavour they pack into it.

2. Nabateeyeh: Sfiha

One of the most famous sfihas in Lebanon, Nabatieh makes them with a truly unique taste.

3. Sidon: Riz Bi Foul

Simple and delightful, just like the city itself.

Mount Lebanon:

1. Ajaltoun: Ma3kroun

This delicious desert is present at every family meeting, and where better to try it at then in Ajaltoun?

2. Aley: Tabbouleh Be Dehen

Forget about getting a healthy salad out of this experience, because this tabbouleh will make you feel just like you’ve eaten a bucket of fried chicken. But it’s finger lickin’ good.

3. Beit Mery: Kebbet La2teen

Kebbeh is delightful, but with a pumpkin twist added to it, it is simply perfect.

4. Beit Eddine: Kafta Bt7eene

Kafta is simply otherworldly when it comes from this town. It’s an indisputable fact.

Beqaa Valley:

1. Ain Zebdeh: Harees

This dish’s main ingredients are wheat and beef, and the product is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

2. Baalbak: Sfiha

Probably one of the most famous dishes in Lebanon, you can’t go to Beqaa without trying Sfiha Ballbakeye.

3. Ferzol: Freikeh

A classic dish of rich freekeh topped with some delicious chicken and toasted nuts? Yes please!
