Lebanon can seem quite repetitive and mundane, although many claim that the country is a gem of excitement and fun. There are quite a few things that prevent Lebanon from reaching its full potential of being that unique gem of a place, and those are the things that we really need to get over as Lebanese people.
1. The Three Butterflies
What’s up with the three butterflies increasing in size on the back of cars? Why is this a thing? Did someone distribute these for free at some point in time? Are the people who have them on their car all part of a secret cult? Illuminati?
2. Stories With the DJ
We are so done with unnecessarily long videos of party people next to the DJ posted repeatedly on our feeds. Please stop.
3. Honking All the Time
We get it, you hate that there’s traffic. We do too. Stop making it worse, maybe?
4. Being Overexcited about Sports
If you like sports, there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you’re fighting with your neighbours for supporting someone else, or worse yet, creating offensive chants because you care oh so much about a group of men chasing a ball, it’s time to grow up, maybe?
6. The Cartier Bracelets
If it were two years ago, you could get away with the unoriginality of this trend. But it’s 2018, get a new trend that will make all of y’all look like clones. Please.
7. Facebook Tags
If I see one more “Tag Your Friend Whose Name Starts With …” posts on my timeline, I might just deactivate completely and withdraw into a dark deep internet-less cave.
8. Wearing I <3 Last Place I Visited Shirts
We get it, you’ve travelled. Or, you bought a shirt to make it look like you travelled from your neighbourhood’s $1 store. Although you might think that these shirts make you seem worldly and well-travelled, they’re just plain tacky.
9. Getting that One ‘Peace’ Tattoo
You know the one, with the birds flying at the end of it. The word can change sometimes, ranging from freedom to faith, but you get it.
10. Celebratory Shooting
The stupidity of this defies explanation. How is your first impulse upon joy to shoot a few shots into the air so they can fall on unsuspecting people and perhaps kill them?
