Burger King Lebanon Launches Amazing Anti-Prejudice Campaign

In a fresh and incredible new campaign, titled #KnowTheDifference, Burger King Lebanon has stunned us with their amazing take on gender violence, racism, and discriminatory behavior.

With the lines between opinion and hate speech becoming more and more blurred, Burger King Lebanon is tackling the confusion between the two, defending the importance of hearing both positive and negative opinions, and outrightly rejecting prejudice dressed up as an opinion.

In the video (posted above), Burger King shows real social media posts about how people don’t like the brand, with statements like “The whopped is overrated,” “Are we really going to believe that the food at Burger King isn’t terribly fattening?” and more, with the brand not shying away from exposing criticism about itself on social media since they see them as merely the opinions of a few people. The campaign then goes on to showcase user comments about various forms of discriminatory judgments – namely racial, sexual orientation and gender-based – to prove that some of the worst prejudice can be disguised as opinions.

Some of the prominent comments used to showcase prejudice are, “I’d kill myself if my wife makes more money than I do” and “It’s not all the rapists fault, you have to see how the woman was behaving” among other jarring comments that are posed as opinions.

The video seeks to let consumers know that while opinions are always welcome, prejudice is not.

We salute Burger King for this incredible campaign that really sheds light on the importance of free speech but the complete rejection of hate speech. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to grab a whopper or two!
