Here’s A Roundup Of Everything That Happened Yesterday

Tuesday, December 10, marked the 54th day of the Lebanese protests, and a day when people’s anger resurfaced.

As the political crisis worsens and citizens’ economic and social situations become more dire, the ruling class still appears to have no real solutions that meet the demands of the public.

Here is a breakdown of everything that went down in Lebanon yesterday:

In Tripoli:

Angry protestors attacked the Mina Municipality headquarters after the unfortunate death of siblings Abdul Rahman and Rama Kakheya, smashing windows and setting a room on fire. They damaged the mayor’s office and trashed a municipality car that was parked outside the building.

Following the wave of violence, 20 members of the Mina Municipality reportedly resigned, and collectively called on the Municipality’s Head Abdul Kader Alameddine to resign as well.

In Beirut:

Protestor convoys made their way around Beirut, making several stops under the houses of former/current ministers and politicians.

Protestors threw garbage under politicians’ houses.

They tried to block main roads like Kantari and Ring Bridge, but were forcibly removed by security forces.

They also stopped by Judge Ghada Aoun’s house in Achrafieh, to protest her decision to detain four protestors in Jounieh. Her order was later revoked by Judge Ghassan Oueidat.

Journalists and protestors alike were attacked and beaten by security forces in Ain El Tineh. Cars in the vicinity were smashed.
