Lebanese Cabinet Announces Two-Week Partial Lockdown Over Coronavirus

The Lebanese Cabinet has announced that it will be closing all land, sea, and air borders as of March 18 until March 29, as a measure against the outbreak of coronavirus in Lebanon. UNIFIL, diplomatic missions and cargo aircraft are exempt from this decision. Most public institutions will be closed.

Private institutions are to be closed, except those that directly deal with the import or processing of medical and healthcare equipment.

The Lebanese Central Bank, along with commercial banks are exempt from public closure but are expected to operate at a bare minimum.

Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced that Lebanon is in a state of mobilization for health emergency and has urged all citizens to stay home.
