Riad Salameh To Address Lebanon And Disclose “Facts” Tomorrow, Wednesday

After Prime Minister Hassan Diab publicly announced that he finds “suspicious ambiguity” in the Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh’s performance regarding the deterioration of our national currency, Salameh announced that he will be disclosing “facts” to respond to criticisms of his handling of the crisis in a prerecorded video scheduled to be released on Wednesday April 29th.

Salameh’s statement will reportedly include figures about the growth of the public debt amongst other key facts.

Diab accused Salameh of pursuing “opaque” policies that sent the pound crashing against the dollar, with the numbers showing that $5.7 billion in deposits left the banks between January and February, adding to the liquidity crunch.

We hope his closing note won’t be el lira bi alf kheir.
