The World Economic Forum has announced its
Class of Young Scientists for the year 2020, a group of 25 exceptional researchers at the forefront of scientific discovery.
And among the young scientists were two American University of Beirut (AUB) researchers!
Joseph Costantine and
Joanna Doummar were nominated by leading research institutes according to criteria including research excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to serving society.
Joanna Doummar seeks to better understand complex underground drainage systems, known as karst aquifers, to better address and solve national water quality and quantity challenges, while Joseph Constantine’s research leverages electromagnetism to design a new generation of wireless communication systems, biomedical sensors, and wirelessly powered devices through radio frequency energy harvesting.
The 25 leading academics were from 14 countries across the world, Doummar and Costantine were the only two researchers selected from the Middle East.
We’re proud of these amazing Lebanese pioneers who are leading the change in scientific fields!
