Lebanese Civil Defense Couldn’t Arrive To Put Out Fires in Downtown Because They Were Out Of Fuel

Last night, protests erupted all over Lebanon against the tumbling of the national currency to a new low against the dollar, during which demonstrators directed their anger at private banks and set several on fire.

But one thing worth noting amid the chaos was the absence of Civil Defense.

The local institution later explained that they couldn’t reach the fires because they didn’t have enough fuel in their vehicles, according to LBCI.
