Beirut Governor: 300,000 People Now Homeless Following Port Blast
According to the Governor of Beirut Marwan Abboud, nearly 300,000 families and individuals are now homeless following the devastating blast that happened at Beirut’s port yesterday.
The explosion that rocked the country’s capital at 6:00 PM was one of the most catastrophic crises to ever hit Lebanon, it destroyed the port and left the capital in shambles.
That is nothing compared to the human losses. Thus far, the explosion has claimed 100 victims and injured 4,000 people. Rescue missions are still underway in an attempt to locate hundreds of missing individuals.
There are no words for what we are all feeling right now. We are heartbroken. Our condolences to the families of those lost, speedy recovery to the injured, and a way out of this nightmare.
