Lebanese Innovator Wadah Malaeb Crowned Winner Of “Stars Of Science”
When a local talent gets international recognition, we can’t help but feel proud!
Wadah Malaeb is a 26-year-old Lebanese engineer who was recently crowned as the Top Arab Innovator on “Stars of Science”, a premier innovation show in the Arab world.
Malaeb impressed the jury members and won first prize for his unique invention: Ductal Organoid-on-a-Chip, based on growing organ chip technology. The chip provides an environment in which cells can grow and reorganize into tissue as if they were in the human body, providing the perfect atmosphere to conduct drug testing massively, efficiently, and affordably.
His invention would save laboratories vast sums of money, time, and human resources, freeing their schedules from the task of simulating environments so they can focus on advancing the collective understanding of the human body.
The show is held over a 12-week process during which contestants demonstrate the effectiveness of their solutions in a shared innovation space, competing against time with the support of a team of experienced engineers and product developers.
After multiple stages and testing rounds, four finalists remain to compete for the title and prize. Malaeb was one of these four distinct finalists, sealing the deal and taking the prize home.
Mabrouk Wadah!
