As
news of lifting flour subsidies flooded Lebanese timelines and created panic amongst many who feared no longer being able to afford basic necessities, Riad Salame’s wife Nada Salame was enjoying a lavish dinner at the prestigious Albergo Hotel in Achrafieh.
Salameh was with former Minister Ghazi Zeaiter’s wife, the very same public works minister who had knowledge of the 2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate that decimated our city.
As Nada and Roula were having a dandy old dinner, they were confronted by protestors who named and shamed them in front of all to see.
Those confronting her chanted, “Riad Salame is a thief, to which she responded: “Laaaa”. She then proceeded to ask the protestors “who paid you?”, as if anyone has access to their deposits to pay for anything anymore.
