Rania Al-Baba Survives Attempted Murder By Her Ex-Husband

A 44-year-old woman named Rania Al-Baba was assaulted and beaten within an inch of her life by her ex-husband, Mahmoud Al-Dimasi. Al Dimasi went into hiding after the attempted murder.

Rania had met with her ex-husband in order to ask for financial dues from him which provoked a violent retaliation from the latter. After he fled, Rania filed a complaint against him at the Saida police station and informed security forces about his whereabouts.

Local NGO Sharika Wa Laken posted Rania’s medical report confirming the assault, as well as graphic pictures of her injuries all over her face and body.

During the first month of 2021 alone, Lebanon witnessed four murders of women who have been victim to similar situations like Rania. We hope for a future ensuring not only a safer environment for women and girls in Lebanon, but a stronger judiciary force to protect their rights.
