According to the Minister of Industry in Lebanon’s caretaker government Imad Hoballah, the government will be signing a contract next month in order to produce Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine in Lebanon.
This was first suggested back in February when Russian ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov said, “We are ready to help Lebanon and its people in all fields, including the fight against COVID-19”.
The decision was announced earlier today after a meeting with President Michel Aoun at Baabda Palace. Until now, the Sputnik vaccine had been sold to private companies.
