A recent decision issued by the Municipality of Salhiye in southern Lebanon showcases the sexist wage gap between male and female workers responsible for olive harvesting.
According to Daraj Media
, male workers will receive a daily fee of 80,000LBP, while female workers will be receiving only 60,000LBP.
The wage gap between men and women in Lebanon remains a pressing matter, and many instances of discriminatory behavior towards women are overlooked. Women are discriminated against in all non-pink collar professions, as they are deemed unsuitable for predominantly male fields.
It’s 2021 and we still have to talk about these issues.
