Comedian Hussein Kaouk Subjected To Harassment Campaign

Known for his comedic sketches illustrating different aspects of life in Lebanon, 28-year-old actor and comedian Hussein Kaouk has been subjected to harassment and intimidation for the past few days on social media due to the most recent episode of his parody show “Shou l Wade3” that airs on Al Jadeed.

In the episode, Kaouk criticizes Lebanese political parties and their supporters for receiving wages in dollars. You can watch the sketch below.

The comedian was then targeted by politically affiliated newspaper Al Akhbar who ran a full page op-ed by Zeinab Hawi who accused Kaouk of “leading a smear campaign” against political parties.

Naturally, this led to many inciting violence against Kaouk.

According to L’Orient, Kaouk reportedly received many violent messages and barbaric threats shortly thereafter.

This is not the first time we witness comedians face scrutiny and violations of their freedom of speech for discussing sectarian matters and highlighting the reality of Lebanese society today.

In response to this smear campaign, many took to social media to voice their support for Kaouk and freedom of speech.

For the record, this is our favorite Hussein Kaouk sketch:

All the support to this hilarious personality.
