File under: technology you did not know still existed!
The Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications has announced that support for telegrams (the hand-delivered communications NOT the popular messaging app) would be halted as of the end of 2021.
Back in 2006, the world’s most famous telegram agency Western Union announced that it “will discontinue all Telegram and Commercial Messaging services”. The means of communication has been around for over 150 years but faded to obscurity when new technology like fax, email, SMS messaging, and eventually the internet brought an end to the age of the telegram.
We hope this is the first of many steps in updating the outdated systems that waste money and resources within ministries.
Dot, dash, full stop. Goodbye to the telegram.
