Join The Talk On The History Of The Trans Community In Beirut!

An NGO dedicated to the collection and preservation of photographs from the MENA region, Arab Image Foundation has created the first archive of photographs of the queer community in the Arab world.

The NGO is hosting an online discussion about the unheard stories in history and the role they play in historical discourse, exploring the narratives of trans women in Beirut during the 1980s and 1990s.

These photographs of Beirut’s queer community will be shared in Cold Cuts, a photo journal focused on celebrating queer culture in Southwest Asia and North Africa, under the title: Treat Me Like Your Mother: Trans* Histories From Beirut’s Forgotten Past.

The talk is being held via Zoom and will include interviews of the ten women featured in the journal. The aim is to shed light on these women’s untold narratives, since a shadow has been cast on the queer community in Lebanon and the Arab region.

Join the discussion happening happening tomorrow at 5 PM via this Zoom link!
