Fight At Beirut Book Fair Due To Removal Of Iranian Leader’s Photos
The Beirut International Book Fair kicked off its 63rd event several days ago following a three-year hiatus. This was met with a ton of excitement from everyone who missed this momentous cultural event.
This morning, however, a fight broke out regarding the removal of deceased Iranian military officer Qassem Solaimani’s photos that were being displayed at the fair. The people demanding the removal of the photos were chanting, “Beirut is free”.
The fight took allegedly place after people requested that the photos be taken down, and the below video has since been circulating on social media.
It is a shame that we cannot even hold a cultural event without regional politics coming into play.
