Guess who!
Forbes has released its 36th World’s Billionaires ranking for 2022 and it includes 21 Arabs (one less than last year—we’ll pause while you cry).
This year, Lebanon’s lion’s share lay with the brothers Najib and Taha Mikati tying for 4th rank on the list, each boasting a net worth of $3.2 billion.
Most noteworthy is the fact that Najib and Taha were 2022’s biggest gainers, each managing to add a whopping $700 million to their net worth during one of the most tumultuous years.
Bahaa, Ayman, and Fahed Hariri were knocked off of this year’s list after having been heavily featured in 2021. Cue the world’s tiniest violin.
Egyptian businessman Nassif Sawiris retained his rank of #1, despite suffering a loss of $600 million.
One of the richest men in the world, billionaire Najib Mikati is currently the Prime Minister of Lebanon, a country that has seen over 70% of the population fall under poverty lines.
Mabrouk, b*tches.
